The International Bluegrass Music Association has announced the participants in their 2018 Songwriters Showcase, to take place in Raleigh, NC during the World Of Bluegrass convention in September.
The Showcase puts the selected writers in front of dozens of artists, producers, and labels who attend looking for new material. The participants are chosen in a competitive process with only ten making the final cut.
This year’s list contains a good many names that will be familiar to anyone who follows bluegrass songwriting. Many have showcased during World Of Bluegrass previously, and each earned their showcase by submitting a demo for a new, typically un-recorded song for consideration. And like in years past, you can expect to hear several of the showcased songs on albums next year.
The 2018 Songwriter Showcase for 2018 will include:
The Convention runs from September 25-27. Full details about registration for World Of Bluegrass 2018 can be found online.

"2017 is over and it has been a crazy year! I released an EP (the first in my new digital Songwriter Sessions series), performed with so many amazing musicians, collaborated with songwriters that I admire, traversed countless miles, added some amazing instruments to my arsenal, written a plethora of songs, and contributed to some beautiful recordings.
After 120 or so shows last year I was thrilled to wrap it all up in my home state at my favorite Colorado honky tonk surrounded by friends, fans and family. I've been gearing up for Songwriter Sessions Volume II and, as usual, I'm eager to share the process and the finished product with you. I'm in the tune selection and pre-production mode thus far but already fired up for the release which is expected in September!
I wanna thank you for continuing to support and follow my musical adventures and creative endeavors. I could never do what I do with out each and every one of you! Even though its been a divisive year one thing we can all agree on is the power and connectivity of music. Let's all tackle this new year with optimism, kindness, creativity and compassion."

Ashleigh springs into 2017 with a modern Bluegrass EP
Songwriter Sessions Vol I:

NASHVILLE -- Songwriter, folksinger, and multi-instrumentalist to release first volume in new digital series. This collection will feature her original works in various styles starting out on her beloved home turf, bluegrass.
After her third record, Looney Bird, took flight in early 2016, Caudill wasted no time getting back into the studio to record a fresh new crop of tunes. Along with her signature sweet vocals, clawhammer banjo, and steady upright bass playing the recording features GRAMMY-nominated mandolinist, Jenni Lyn Gardner, banjo master, Kyle Tuttle, Jake Stargel’s fiery flatpicking, the fine fiddling of John Mailander with guest appearances by Alan Bartram (The Del McCoury Band) and Molly Tuttle! It was tracked live and all in one room at Sound Wave Studio by Daniel Rice.
The Berklee College of Music Alumni has played with countless artists including Angaleena Presley (Pistol Annies) and bluegrass icon, Charlie Sizemore. Rapidly gaining recognition for her success in songwriting, Ashleigh’s original work has been recorded by artists that include Jim Hurst, Balsam Range, Close Kin, Darren Nicholson and more. Her gospel chart topper, “Row By Row,” was featured on Balsam Range’s 2013 International Bluegrass Music Association’s album of the year.
With this fine selection of tunes backed by Nashville’s A-team of young bluegrass pickers Caudill’s roots are certainly showing. Winter Blues will be released June 9th 2017 with a release show and celebration at the world famous Station Inn on June 8th.
Stay tuned for more details.
Here's an end of 2016 note from Ashleigh:
"Tonight I played my second to last show of 2016. I'm looking forward to taking a little time off of gigging to spend some quality time with my family and friends in Colorado. I love looking back on the past year and preparing for the next. Its such a promising time. 2016 has been such a fun and fulfilling year! Finishing up and releasing Looney Bird was a big highlight for me, but there were so many other great moments. I've loved making music with so many amazing people, bringing stories to life in song and playing and singing for so many of you!
We never know what the future holds, but I plan to jump into 2017 with hope and determination to make the best out of whatever the world throws at me. I hope you all have a warm and wonderful holiday season with the people you love!"
Come back soon for some exciting announcements for 2017.
