Thank you to everyone who was there, or watching on concert window, thanks to all the kickstarter backers, and to all the musicians, singers, writers, sound engineers, artists, graphic designers and photographers who were a huge part of this project!
You guys are the best!
Dudes! I'm getting so excited about Wednesday! If you can't make it to Nashville in time, you can tune in online via concert window at https://www.concertwindow.com/79755-ashleigh-caudill!
I also wanted to let you know about all the amazing musicians that will be joining me on stage to celebrate!
Here's the lineup!
and maybe a few surprise guests!
We'll be playing the songs in the order that they show up on the record. We'll have Preston Schmidt from Studio 31 West behind the sound board making us sound pretty. LC Gibson will be in attendance with some of her amazing artwork on display (and for sale). I'll have copies of the record for sale and you can pick up a poster (that features a photo of LC's creation) too!
On Wednesday (every Wednesday) there is an awesome jam at the Legion, so if you're a picker, be sure to bring your instruments and friends along to hang out and pick until the cows come home! ... Ok, or until they close the bar down.
I hope to see some of you there! Its gonna be a real good time!
PS - if you get on itunes right now, you can pre-order Looney Bird. You'll get a track download immediately and the rest will download on the first. Try it out! You'll like it!
Hey folks! I'm back from my Colorado Caudill Sisters mini tour, enjoying the beautiful weather here in Tennessee and getting so super excited for my album release show! Thats right. You heard me: Looney Bird release show!!!
So, if you'd like to come and celebrate the release of this record with me, just cruise on over to the American Legion Post 82 on March 30th at 7:30PM. The band is going to be awesome, the songs are going to be looney and I'm going to be having too much fun playing and singing for you! I'll have the album for sale at the show, even though it won't be officially released until April 1st. No joke, I'm releasing Looney Bird into the world on April Fool's Day. If you pre-order the album, you'll be able to download one pre-release track a week before everyone else. The rest of the album will download automatically on the April 1st. If that sounds awesome to you, check out my CDbaby page. You can pre-order on March 23rd.
The album has been getting some really great press so far!
Bluegrass Unlimited says, "If you like your music sophisticated, fun, and honest, you need look no further." To read the full review here.
According to For The Country Record "...the album “exemplifies one of the most exciting musical trends to be heard today,” according to award-winning songwriter and bluegrass staple Jon Weisberger – that is, traditional roots music with a new spin, a different take on the themes and sounds that have shaped American music past." Visit their page for more.
Bluegrass Today premiered a video of one of the tracks from the album! Check it out here.
The Bluegrass Situation, one of my favorites, also premiered a track. Hear that one here.
Audio Fuzz says, "Her songs are plaintive and so intense they draw you in. Now a resident of Nashville, Tenn., Caudill’s life has taken on an air of the adventure she sings about..." Read the rest here.
Well, enjoy the beautiful weather, watching the flowers pop up, the trees turn green, let out those pasty winter time toes and squish them in some fresh spring mud!
I'll see you at the American Legion!
So far 2016 has been awesome! I had more fun than I can even put into words playing on the Norwegian Pearl with Angaleena Presley! The 6th Man crew and the staff on the pearl were all so helpful and nice! Best cruise ever! Ok, well only my first cruise ever, but I'd say it was a great start.
The week was packed with so many fantastic artists. I had plans to try and see everything, but that's downright impossible! Some highlights for me were as follows:
So there are five things that I really enjoyed. So many amazing musicians, wonderful fans... I couldn't possibly list everything good that happened on the boat. Thanks, Cayamo!
Here are some pictures to give you a little bit of an idea of how awesome it was.
Even though it was great to be in the sun for a little while its good to be back to rainy Tennessee. Yesterday I paid a visit to Studio 31 West to do a live video shoot with fiddle buddies, Nate Lee and John Mailander. I'm really quite excited to share it with you, but we'll all have to wait until its ready. I can tell you this much, there is a good fiddle frenzy in there somewhere! It felt good to be back in the studio. After spending so much time there last winter it was fun to hang out with Robert and Preston again!
Lets see... what's next? Oh right! A trip to Colorado! I'll be doing a few shows on the Front Range with my sister, Jessica Weatherly, next week! If you live in the area please come and hang out with us! I hear there is still standing room available at the house concert. We'll be playing songs off the new album as well as some of our sister hits and a few surprises, as is tradition.
Stay posted for more news on the Looney Bird release! Hope to see you soon!
Friends! I'm pleased to announce that a release date has finally been set! You can purchase your very own copy of Looney Bird on April 1st! No Joke! Also stay tuned for more details on the super fun and exciting release show! I'd love to see each and every one of you there!
For all of you Colorado folks, you can look for me along with sister, Jessica Weatherly in February on the Front Range. We'll be doing a couple of shows including some of the new tunes from the album. You'll also be some of the lucky few to be able to purchase a pre-release copy at one of our shows! Hope to see you at a sister show!
In other news I'll be joining one of my newest favoritest songwriters, Angaleena Presley, for a Cayamo songwriter cruise! I'm really looking forward to playing bass and singing some harmonies on her beautiful tunes on a big ol' boat! I'll come home refreshed, inspired, full of songs, sunshine and a tan just in time to gear up for the Looney Bird release!
I hope you're all staying cozy and enjoying 2016 at least half as much as I am!
Happy Holidays everyone! I hope everyone stuffed themselves and had a wonderful time with friends and family on Thanksgiving!

It features amazing musicians like Matt Wingate, Nate Lee, Daryl Johnson and Rachael Hester!
Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a wonderful rest of 2015!
Its September again! Time for pumpkins and flannel and campfires and all things fall! Well, its almost time for all those things. Its still blazing hot in Nashville and there are still plenty of super fun musical activities going on.
This summer, like most every summer, has been a whirlwind of creative activity and I've failed to keep you updated via my blog! So, lets play catch up.
As usual, I've been writing the songs and playing the gigs. I've gotten to play on some pretty cool demos and work on some pretty cool songs with some pretty cool people. I've also been working on getting Looney Bird finished up so that you can hear it! Well, it has been mastered and the artwork is currently being put together and I should have enough boxes of CD's sitting in my livingroom to build quite the formidable castle come October. Look for pictures of said castle in the future on instagram. If you don't follow me on instagram yet, go here to keep up with my daily shenanigans and also to see pictures of Shevannegains!
Its been a busy little while here! Working on tying up the loose ends on Looney Bird. Oh, and I got to play on Music City Roots in Monteagle at the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly!
I had never been to Monteagle before, or the Sunday School Assembly so I decided to take the back roads with the windows down on the drive there. That turned out to be the perfect way to go. Driving through rolling hills, down winding roads, past red barns and fields full of cattle I felt like I was going back in time. Once inside the gates of the community, which felt like the friendly neighborhood everyone wishes they grew up in, the road twisted and turned past the cutest houses you've ever seen and delivered me to the Assembly Hall. The people were so welcoming, the room smelled and sounded amazing and the weather was perfect! I had a blast playing some of the songs off of my upcoming record and debuting my brand-new-to-me guitar!
Craig Havighurst wrote in his blog about it:
"And the music was sublime – a master class in tone. Ashleigh Caudill’s banjo and crystalline voice chimed together in a solo set. I heard many poetic lines like “melodies dance from branch to branch” in “A Dream” and her balance between old Appalachia and hip New Nashville was just perfect. I can’t wait to hear her again."
In other news, Looney Bird has been sent off to mastering and should be ready to be printed soon! I can't wait to wait for the UPS man to show up with enough boxes of CD's to build a fort in the living room with! And of course to get the music out to all you wonderful people.
Anyway, thanks for reading and I'll update you again soon!
Is it summer time yet? The weather in Nashville doesn't seem to think so, but all my friends are busy traveling from festival to festival, so I suspect that it is.
I've been busy working away on my record. The mixing is almost done and everything is sounding magical. I can't wait to send it along to be mastered and then to be printed and shared with the world! In addition to the occasional show here and there I also had the privilege to spend a day in Studio 31 West working on Nate Lee's new record with Ned Lubereki and Matt Wingate! I'm not sure when his anticipated release date is, but that's a record you're gonna wanna have for sure!
This past weekend was a hoot! I played at Fat Bottom Brewery here in Nashville with some of my favorites (Nate Lee and Jen Starsinic) and drummer, Daryl Johnson! This was my first gig with a drummer and I like to think it was a success! There will be more like that in days to come! Then the trio (Nate, Jen and I) made a quick trip to Maryville Tennessee to play for the nice folks at Barley's Taproom.
Its good to get out now and then, but now its back to the grind of writing and working on Looney Bird!
Thanks for reading!
What a whirlwind! I'm just now getting my computer open and logged in long enough to tell you all about Spring Fest and what I've been up to in the studio!
I spent the next day, Thursday, rehearsing with Nikki and Jason, brushing up on the old tunes and learning some of the new ones of their brand spankin' album, Out From The Harbor. Friday we played an early evening set to the bustling Music Hall. The sound was perfect. The songs: captivating. The three part harmonies were soaring and Jason's guitar solos were on fire! If you haven't checked out Nikki Talley's music yet, do yourself a favor and do it now. (Click here, buy her album then come back and finish reading this, I'll wait).
The rest of the weekend was filled with great music from stage and campground alike. I got to see a lot of old Asheville buddies and play and drink and sing until the morning. Truly a wonderful way to ring in Spring!
As if I couldn't have any more fun, I got home late Sunday night and jumped back into the studio on Monday. After three busy days last week Looney Bird is really starting to come to life! With every note, phrase, melody, each and every word and track everything is coming together! I finished up all my vocal, banjo and bass tracks. On top of that we layered on some spooky fiddle at the hands of Nate Lee. Jim Hurst added some beautifully mellow guitar to the album's only gospel song (written by Jon Weisberger and myself) and Preston Schmidt and Robert Trapp (Studio 31 West) did some pre-rough-mix-mixing! I really can't wait for you all to hear this album! Did I mention that yet? I can't wait for you all to hear this album!
Well, we've got a big day in the studio ahead of us tomorrow, so I best get back to it! Thanks for following along!
