Its been a busy little while here! Working on tying up the loose ends on Looney Bird. Oh, and I got to play on Music City Roots in Monteagle at the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly!
I had never been to Monteagle before, or the Sunday School Assembly so I decided to take the back roads with the windows down on the drive there. That turned out to be the perfect way to go. Driving through rolling hills, down winding roads, past red barns and fields full of cattle I felt like I was going back in time. Once inside the gates of the community, which felt like the friendly neighborhood everyone wishes they grew up in, the road twisted and turned past the cutest houses you've ever seen and delivered me to the Assembly Hall. The people were so welcoming, the room smelled and sounded amazing and the weather was perfect! I had a blast playing some of the songs off of my upcoming record and debuting my brand-new-to-me guitar!
Craig Havighurst wrote in his blog about it:
"And the music was sublime – a master class in tone. Ashleigh Caudill’s banjo and crystalline voice chimed together in a solo set. I heard many poetic lines like “melodies dance from branch to branch” in “A Dream” and her balance between old Appalachia and hip New Nashville was just perfect. I can’t wait to hear her again."
In other news, Looney Bird has been sent off to mastering and should be ready to be printed soon! I can't wait to wait for the UPS man to show up with enough boxes of CD's to build a fort in the living room with! And of course to get the music out to all you wonderful people.
Anyway, thanks for reading and I'll update you again soon!
